CandlestashThis Privacy Policy explains how Circuit Swarm LLC (“Candlestash,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Candlestash mobile application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we use Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. Depending on the method and your choices, we receive an account identifier, your email address (Apple may provide a private relay address that hides your real email), and an optional display name. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
Collection data you add
The App stores the information you enter about your collection, such as candle and mist names, brands, scents and notes, sizes, prices, purchase dates and sources, ratings, personal notes, locations/rooms, tags, collections, wishlist items, burn history, and budget or “No-Buy” settings.
Photos
If you add photos or scan a product, we process the images as described in Section 3.
Device & diagnostic information
To keep the App running smoothly we may collect limited technical information such as app version, device model, operating-system version, and error/crash logs. This helps us diagnose problems and improve reliability.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the App’s core features — storing, organizing, and syncing your collection across your devices.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To recognize scanned products and auto-fill scent details (see Section 3).
- To operate the optional shared community catalog if you opt in.
- To diagnose issues, prevent abuse, and improve the App.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Photos, AI processing & the shared catalog
Candlestash accesses your camera and photo library only to let you scan barcodes and add photos of your products. You are always in control of which mode you use:
- Private mode (default). Your photos are stored in your own private, access-controlled cloud storage and are visible only to you and used only within your account.
- Automatic scent extraction. When you scan a product label, the label image may be sent to our secure backend and processed by automated (AI) image-recognition services to extract details such as scent name, notes, and size. This lets the App fill in product information for you.
- Shared community catalog (opt-in). If — and only if — you explicitly grant photo-sharing consent, a product photo and its details may be submitted for review and added to a shared catalog that helps other users identify the same product. You may also separately choose whether your display name is shown as a contributor. You can decline or change these choices; declining does not affect your private use of the App.
Automated processing is used to recognize products and improve catalog accuracy; it does not make legal or similarly significant decisions about you.
4. How we share information
We share information only as needed to run the App:
- Service providers. We use Google Firebase (Google LLC) for authentication, database, cloud storage, and backend functions, and automated image-recognition services to process scanned labels. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies.
- Sign-in providers. Apple and Google process authentication when you sign in with them.
- Shared catalog. Content you choose to share (Section 3) becomes visible to other users of the App.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the App.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Storage, security & retention
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure provided by Google Firebase, which may process and store data on servers located in the United States and other countries. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls that restrict private data to your account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations. Content you contributed to the shared catalog may remain in the catalog after account deletion.
6. Your choices & rights
You can:
- Access & edit your collection data directly in the App.
- Export your collection from the App at any time.
- Delete your account and associated data from within the App, or by contacting us at the email below.
- Control permissions (camera, photos, notifications) in your device settings.
- Manage sharing — photo-sharing and username display are opt-in and can be changed.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@candlestash.app. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
7. Children
Candlestash is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
